Equipment / Lighting
Lighting that decides what the night looks like.
Festoon lights on a dimmer, fairy lights and LED down lights, hung by the crew that builds the marquee, which means the lights are up and tested before the florist arrives.

A marquee with no lighting plan is a white room at 7 pm. The ceremony photos are fine; the reception photos are a wall of shadow. Lighting is the cheapest line on the quote and the one that decides what the night looks like.
What we hang
- Festoon lights inside the marquee, dimmer included. Priced per marquee size, so you don't need to work out how many runs a 10 × 18 m needs. The dimmer means dinner and dancing get two different rooms from the same lights.
- Fairy lighting inside the marquee. Priced per size too. Softer, fills the roof, which means the ceiling stops being a white sheet.
- LED down lights, warm or colour-change. For the bar, the cake, the band or a tree. Four of these do more than another run of festoon lights.
- LED flood lights, supply only. For the car park and the path to the toilets. Not pretty. Necessary.
- Outside festoon or fairy runs, 10 m to 80 m in 10 m steps, poles included, two per 10 m, so there's a lit path from the gate to the door without needing a tree in the right place.
Which one?
Festoon lights are the warm look in every photo on this site. Fairy lights are the softer version for a ceiling you'll see a lot of. LED down lights are for the things you want people to look at. Most weddings take festoon lights inside, a run outside to the car park, and four to six down lights. A festival site takes flood lights, and a lot of them.
Hung by the crew, with the marquee
Lighting goes up on the same day as the structure, by the same crew, and is switched on and tested before they leave. That means there's no second contractor on a ladder the morning of the event. It comes down with the marquee.
