How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can. March, May, June, October and November are our busiest months, and the bigger structures go first. Which means the earlier you lock in a date, the more choice you have over size, flooring and lighting. If your date is already set, ask anyway. We'll tell you straight what's free, and if it's short notice we'll check the calendar while you're on the phone.

What areas do you cover?

The Mid North Coast — we're based in the middle of the area we cover: Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Woolgoolga, Bellingen, Urunga, Dorrigo, Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Kempsey, South West Rocks, Crescent Head, Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Grafton. Further away, ask. We've built for festivals well beyond that list. Distance changes the installation price, not whether we'll come.

How long do we have the marquee for?

A standard hire covers four days, which takes in the days we install and pack down. For a wedding that usually means we build two or three days before and come back for it after the weekend. If your event runs longer than four days it becomes a long-term hire and we price it that way — tell us on the enquiry and it goes on the quote.

What size marquee do I need for 100 guests?

For 100 seated at round tables, a 10 × 12 m marquee — 120 m² — takes the tables and a mid-size dance floor. Work on roughly one square metre per seated guest, then add room for the floor and the bar. Want a full-size floor and the bar inside as well? That is a 10 × 18 m, which seats 120. Standing cocktail needs less, a band needs more.

What sizes do your marquees come in?

Marquees in 3, 4, 6, 10, 12 and 15 m widths, with the length growing in 3 m bays. The smallest is a 3 × 3 m; at the other end we build single structures of over 500 m², and run several together beyond that. Pop-up marquees from 3 to 5 m cover small jobs. Which means there's a size between a backyard 40th and a 500-seat dinner, not a jump.

Can we have clear walls, or no walls?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Walls come in white, half-clear or full clear, and any wall can be left off. Most weddings on a property run clear on the view side and white on the weather side, then close up if the wind comes round. Walls are a separate line on the quote, which means you can see exactly what the clear ones cost before you decide.

Do I need flooring?

Accepted Answer

Not always. On level, dry grass plenty of parties go without. For a wedding with 120 people in heels, or any site that might be wet, timber flooring keeps the ground under the tables even and dry. Flooring is built for our 3, 6 and 10 m marquees, and the parquetry dance floor sits level on it. Flooring is its own line on the quote, so you can price it both ways.

Do you set up and pack down?

Yes, every time, and it's included with every marquee. Our crew installs it on the day written on your booking, walks the site with you, and comes back after the event to pack it down. Question 9

What's the difference between installation and delivery?

Accepted Answer

A marquee is installed: a crew, and the day we'll be on site to build. That's on the quote as installation and pack-down. Loose equipment on its own, like tables, chairs and lighting runs without a marquee, is delivered from our yard, quoted for your site. Deliveries get a window; installations get a fixed day.

What happens if it rains?

The marquee is the wet-weather plan. Walls keep the rain out, timber flooring keeps guests off wet ground, and we build days before, not on the morning. If the forecast turns before install day, we talk to you about adding walls or flooring before the truck leaves, not after it arrives.

What happens if it's windy?

Accepted Answer

If the forecast on install day is bad enough that building isn't safe for the crew or the structure, we'll call you rather than press on. Otherwise, the structure goes up before anything else goes in: pegs on grass, weights on hardstand.

Question 12

What is your on-time guarantee?

Accepted Answer

Every booking carries the day we'll be on site to build. If we're not there on that day, we refund the installation cost — the installation and pack-down charge on your invoice comes back to you. We confirm the time with you as the date gets close. It doesn't cover a site that isn't ready, unsafe ground, unsafe weather, road closures or a date change you ask for. This guarantee is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Question 13

Who do we call if something isn't right on the day?

Us, on 02 6655 6924 or 0421 636 700. The crew walks the site with you before they leave so you know what not to move, but if a wall needs closing or a light stops working, ring. Our crew live locally, which means we can be back on most Coffs Coast sites the same day.

Question 14

How much does a marquee cost?

Accepted Answer

It depends on size, distance from us, ground, flooring, walls and lighting, and each of those is its own line on the quote. A 6 × 9 m suits a backyard party; a 10 × 18 m suits 120 seated with a dance floor. Both are quoted for your site. Tell us the date and the guest count and we'll give you the real number.

Question 15

Is a deposit required to secure the date?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A deposit of 25% holds the date and the structure, and the balance of 75% is due two weeks before your event. The date isn't held until the deposit lands, which means if you're choosing between two dates, ask us early and we'll tell you what's still free.

Question 16

Can you provide a certificate of currency for public liability insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry public liability cover of $20 million and can provide the certificate of currency. Ask for it when you enquire and it comes with your quote, which means your compliance officer has it before the event rather than the week after.

Question 17

Do we need council approval for a marquee?

Accepted Answer

On a private property or at a venue, usually not, though check with the venue. On public land, showgrounds and streets, the council or land manager usually wants a temporary structure application. We've supplied councils and festivals across the region, which means you're not the one guessing what they'll ask for. The application is yours to lodge; ask us for the certificate of currency and it goes in with it.
